2023 Deodorant Innovation Formulas Developed at Prime Matter Labs

Led by Chief Science Officer Jennifer Hurtikant, our R&D team has had a busy 2023 developing a range of products based on industry trends, ingredient innovations and whitespace opportunities.

Aluminum-Free Deodorants

Aluminum-free deodorants rose in popularity with the “clean beauty” movement as some users are concerned that the ingredient can be absorbed into skin. They are often used in place of anti-perspirants or deodorants which contain aluminum as a natural alternative to neutralize or mask underarm odor. The market for aluminum-free deodorant is expected to exhibit significant growth of 9.5% in the upcoming decade, according to FMI. Deodorants that are not anti-perspirants and without active ingredients are considered cosmetic by the FDA.

The Prime Matter Labs R&D team have developed several deodorant options leveraging biotechnology and ingredients with natural odor fighting properties. While the following products do not qualify as OTC, they can serve as a natural option for brands looking to expand into odor protection. Biotech Inspired Roll On Natural Deodorant

Key Ingredients: ScentArc Prebiotic

Key Benefits: Odor protection

This biotech-driven Roll-On Deodorant provides a blend of ingredients that fights against underarm odor. The deodorant contains ScentArc Prebiotic, a prebiotic blend of Yeast Extract, Glucosamine HCl​, Betaine, Glutamine​, and Lysine HCl​ that decreases the presence of malodorous compounds while simultaneously providing other skin care benefits. The ScentArc technology was developed via high throughput screening and machine learning. The ingredient was also found to ‍promote barrier repair and healthy skin, as well as helping to repair shaving damage.

Cool Blue Natural Deodorant

Key Ingredients: Aloe Vera 200x, Hebeatol Plus

Key Benefits: Odor protection, Cooling, Soothing

The Cool Blue Deodorant is the key to ultimate freshness. The natural, aluminum-free deodorant not only cares for skin but also keeps users feeling refreshed and smelling fantastic. The formula includes the powerful combination of Aloe Vera 200x and Hebeatol Plus to provide gentle hydration to the skin while simultaneously targeting and fighting odor through natural ingredients. Aloe Vera 200x contains antioxidants, soothes and calms skin, and is ideal for sensitive areas. Hebeatol Plus offers natural odor-fighting properties and lasting fragrance. Aloe Barbadense Leaf Juice soothes skin and provides ultimate refreshment and Panax Ginseng Root Extract is an antioxidant that promotes overall skin health. Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate supports a balanced skin PH while a fermented yeast (Saccharomyces Ferment) helps to neutralize odor-causing bacteria for long-lasting odor protection while
